| Delhi is one of the oldest cities surviving in India.
The capital is an amalgam of eight cities that were made
by the rulers at different times. The city has witnessed
it all the rise and fall of empires, plunder, loot and
still stands strong today. Delhi is the third largest
city . The city consists of two parts Old Delhi and New
Delhi. In Old Delhi you will find many mosques, monuments
and forts relating to India's Muslim history. While New
delhi was the British capital and was planned by Lutyen.
Delightful Delhi
Delhi is one of the ancient cities and yet one of the
progressive cities. Home to over 10 million people,
Delhi has the largest number of important sightseeing
venues. The vivid architecture of the monuments stand
testimony to the royal bygone era. Being the capital
it is the hub of political affairs. A mirror of India'a
culture and tradition the city is renowned for its museums,
art galleries and craft exhibitions. To please the gourmet
the city has some famous restaurants and dhabas. The
city has a range of hotels for your comfortable stay.
Another highlight of the place is Appu Ghar, Delhi's
own Disneyland, the ideal getaway for kids. One can
beat the heat with various water parks at the outskirts
of the city. Come winters and the gardens bloom with
a variety of flowers. The city is also a proud host
to a plethora of cultural events.
Delhi's nightlife scene has undergone
a total transformation in the last decade, and there
are plenty of modern, cosmopolitan joints out to separate
you from your rupees. In a desperate attempt to keep
the sex ratio vaguely equitable, many lounges and clubs
have couples only policies (that is, no single men or
men-only groups), enforced with varying degrees of strictness.
While everything is theoretically supposed to shut down
by 1 AM, quite a few keep going much longer
Rajpath.
A main parade route that leads to the President's residence
(Rashtrapati Bhavan). Wide avenue, the splendid India
Gate, and many grassy lawns. Especially nice in the
evenings and at night when the buildings are lit, and
the vendors come out to supply the many picnicking families.
Humayun's Tomb
The splendid tomb of the second Mughal Emperor Humayun.
Rajghat Memorial of Mahatma Gandhi
